Maryland Department of Information Technology selects Skyline to provide Network Managed Services and Support

Baltimore, MD – August 16, 2022 – Skyline Technology Solutions (Skyline) announced today that the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT) has selected Skyline to provide Network Managed Services and Support of DoIT’s operational responsibilities, focusing primarily on the current and future state of the networkMaryland™ program.

networkMaryland™ is the State’s carrier class private high-speed enterprise network that supports public sector data transport and common service delivery. Built using a combination of State-owned fiber optic cable assets and leased assets provided by commercial service providers, networkMaryland™ provides a cost-effective solution for wide area and Internet connectivity. Additionally, networkMaryland™ provides the Statewide Government Intranet (SwGI) allowing agencies to host and share common applications across a trusted network. Overall, networkMaryland™ serves more than 120 unique customers across 900 sites using 2,000 miles of fiber and more than 1,600 enterprise network devices supporting hundreds of thousands of end users, all of Maryland’s citizen facing services, and hundreds of applications.

Skyline has supported the entire lifecycle of the State of Maryland’s private carrier-class service provider network for nearly 20 years. This includes supporting three administrations, massively expanded DoIT’s fiber infrastructure, building the first ever Security Operations Center for the State, and driving the implementation of the Enterprise initiative along an ITIL framework. Through our successful partnership with DoIT, the networkMaryland™ program saves the State, and ultimately its citizens, over $100 million annually.
