Fivestar Launches Sports Highlight Rating App, Signs Six Pro Athletes as Brand Ambassadors

Hanover, MD (8/16/2022) — Sports technology startup, Fivestar, today announced it has officially launched the Fivestar App, the world’s first and only sports highlight rating mobile app.

Designed to change how athletes and fans share and consume sports content, the Fivestar App offers a dedicated digital platform focused solely on sports highlights, giving athletes worldwide the opportunity to showcase their performances and have them rated by users. Employing unique algorithms to calculate both athlete and fan ratings, the Fivestar App provides a comment-free environment for users to curate sports highlights, while contributing and receiving productive feedback.

The Fivestar App has already signed several pro athletes to serve as brand ambassadors, including lacrosse stars Kyle Harrison, Trevor Baptiste, and Kylie Ohlmiller; skateboarders Ryan Decenzo and Deon Harris; and women’s basketball pro, Angel McCoughtry. Fivestar athlete ambassadors will help raise awareness for the app and drive downloads, be active app users, scout and onboard future brand ambassadors, host events, and more.

The Fivestar App uses the power of machine learning and its proprietary algorithms to identify and eliminate problematic users, bots, and non-sports content. Future app updates will include gamification and a points system that tracks engagements and rewards users with Fivestar Coins, which can be used to purchase gear, and gain access to events and exclusive content.

Athletes using the Fivestar App can set up a profile, choose their sport (or sports) and post highlights of their best moments, thereby leveraging the platform to showcase their talents. Fans can then engage with athletes by rating highlights, reacting with animations, and earning an overall fan rating.

Coaches can also take advantage of the Fivestar App to search for and find athletes and recruiting prospects. By viewing and sharing highlights of potential recruits, athletes benefit from increased recognition, regardless of physical location.

While highlights from all sports will be added to the Fivestar App regularly, its initial focus is on content from lacrosse, basketball, football, skateboarding, soccer, and volleyball.
