The Maryland STEM Festival, Inc is excited to announces the 10th annual state wide celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, taking place from Friday, October 18h through Sunday, November 177h. This year’s Festival will spotlight the engineering process with its theme-Engineering: Idea to Reality featuring over 350 events across the state. The theme emphasizes the significance the critical role engineering plays in daily life and its importance to the Maryland Economy.


The Festival will kick off at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory on October 18th at 10:30 am, where the very first Festival event was held in 2015. The Opening Event feature booths hosted leading STEM organizations, engaging speakers, and a luncheon. Speakers will include WBAL-TV’s Ava Marie and the National Zoo’s Kali Holder. The night before the Festival launches, Astronaut Tom Jones will be discussing his book, Space Shuttle Stories, at the Elkridge Library,

The full schedule of events will be available on the Maryland STEM Festival website. Events will be held at such venues as libraries, schools, colleges, museums, and more. The events are designed to be family-oriented, fun, and free. The events will take across the state, offering all Maryland residents the change to engage in this vibrant celebration of STEM. Major participants include Verizon, Astra Zeneca, Maryland Public Television, Northrop, Google, Microsoft, NASA, National Institute of Health, Agency, Whiting-Turner, National Cryptologic Museum, and the National Aquarium. Maryland STEM Festival at College Park featuring numerous UMD STEM programs.

Da Vinci STEM Day in partnership with MPT’s showing of Ken Burn’s new documentary on Da Vinci

Frederick STEM Carnival at Carroll Creed held alongside the Frederick Children Business Fair.

The Middle School STEM Professional Match program connects students with inspiring STEM professionals from various fields throughout Maryland.

Festival Closing Ceremony featuring robotics demonstrations by Howard County Chinese School and other teams.

The Maryland STEM Festival aims to inspire students of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels to explores STEM, with the hope of encouraging more young people to pursue STEM-focused career. Maryland is one the few states in the nation to host a state-wide STEM Festival
