Event Details
Join MTC for a half-day technology symposium bringing together technology leaders, life sciences innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, and emerging talent to explore how AI is transforming healthcare and biotechnology.
Agenda:
Keynote Speaker: Mark Gustavson, Senior Director, Computational Pathology, AstraZeneca
Fireside Chat: From Classroom to Client Work: What Employers Should Know About AI-Ready Graduates
In this conversational Q&A, Towson University student Monica Mitchell and Sandra Warner of Mind Over Machines follow one student's path from winning a university AI competition to working on real client AI projects as an intern. Monica, an economics and international studies major, talks about the gap between academic theory and hands-on practice: how a consultancy approaches clients, how AI work actually gets delivered, and what it took to become confident applying AI in her field. Sandra adds the employer's view on what made the internship work and what hiring organizations should look for in graduates. The session speaks to a growing question for Maryland's technology and life sciences employers: is what students learn in school lining up with what the workforce needs?
PANEL: Investing in the AI Powered Life Sciences Ecosystem - Explore where AI is creating measurable value across biotechnology and how AI may serve as both a tailwind and headwind for the industry. Moderator and Panelists from Rockefeller Capital Management and other investment firms
PANEL: AI in Action: What's Actually Working, What Isn't, and Why
Beyond the headlines, where is AI delivering real results across life sciences — and where has it fallen short? This panel brings together leaders who are deploying AI in practice, from drug discovery to enterprise operations to legal and regulatory oversight. They'll share candid stories of measurable wins, expensive disappointments, and the hard-won lessons in between — including what it really takes to move AI from a promising pilot to production, and how to do it without creating risk you can't defend.
Moderator: Steve Navarro
Panelists:
- Kim Cato, VP IT, Customer Channels Group
- Matt Christian, Director of Digital Product Engineering and Pilots, U.S. Pharmacopeia
- Robert Hsiao, Head of Beijing AI Center and Discovery, AstraZeneca
- Alex Moylan, AI Attorney, Baker Donelson
Subject Matter Expert Spotlight: Tim Kulp, Chief Innovation Officer, Mind Over Machines
Continental Breakfast, Buffet Lunch, and Networking included.
