Job Description
The project manager will be responsible for keeping research, prototyping, and contract manufacturing projects on track in a product design and contract manufacturing firm. Products being developed range from consumer products to medical devices, to rail and defense solutions.

Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
Determine the resources (competitive quotes from vendors, labor time estimates, cost of materials, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
Develop or assist in the development of a quote for engineering services or production services
Develop a timeline for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities, and the customer; revise the schedule as required
Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
Manage or help to manage project loading so all projects happening simultaneously are completed on time with the appropriate resources
Ensure that project files are properly created and maintained
Work with purchasing agent, accounting, and QA to qualify consultants and vendors, track costs, and keep projects within budget
Execute the project according to the project plan
Develop forms and records to document and manage project activities
Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization and customers on the progress of the project
Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures
Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
Conduct production meetings to set internal team priorities
Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
Qualifications and Skills
Ideal but not required experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
Ability to see, read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; design software; CAD; order processing systems and project management software
Two to three years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience with medical products a plus
