Creatv MicroTech Inc, (Creatv), a biotechnology company providing innovative blood tests for cancer screening and diagnostics headquartered in Rockville MD, seeks a part-time financial manager to oversee all aspects of finance and accounting.  Creatv currently is a small company, and is actively building business, recruiting clients and seeking Series A funding to grow the company. Creatv is currently leveraging NIH and DoD grants with academic researchers and has established commercial business with pharmaceutical firms. Location: Potomac, Maryland     Part time: 15-20 hours per week


Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting Administration: Working in conjunction with our bookkeeper, approve payments and account reconciliations.  Manage data for financial audits and corporate tax returns prepared by outside firms. Send K1’s to the shareholders. Approve monthly payroll and 401K contributions. Approve invoices and sign checks.

Grants Administration-DoD and NIH Research Awards: Negotiate prime and sub-award contracts, approve monthly invoices and quarterly reports, prepare closeout invention and final financial reports. Prepare Indirect Rate Proposals and Incurred Costs Submissions to DCAA.

Purchasing: Approve purchases from suppliers of scientific materials and services. 

Benefits Administration: Approve employee applications to group health, disability and retirement plans.  Review quarterly reports from retirement plan and file annual 5500 report.

Contractual Business: Negotiate customer sales and service contracts. Negotiate contracts for services, such as insurance, legal, audit and tax.

Personnel: Approve position descriptions, offer letters, I-9 forms, background checks, and conflict of interest reports.  Oversee and contribute to the development of and updating Employee Handbook and policies.

Corporate Governance: Prepare board and shareholder resolutions, file state annual reports

Financing Activities: Work with CEO to prepare share sale and option award documentation and record shares issued in share registry and CARTA system


Qualifications:

Demonstrated record of progressive responsibilities in finance and accounting, ideally in the biotech space dealing with the topics above; 

Working knowledge of principles and practice of management, accounting and corporate finance;

Flexible team player;

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including familiarity with bioscience nomenclature and medical writing; 

Well-developed skills formulating and evaluating business plans and financial models;

Capital fund raising experience preferred;

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks;

MBA (finance) or M.S. (finance) and or CPA/CFA/CMA preferred.
