Director, Method and Test Development
JOB SUMMARY:

Focused not only on Molecular Assays but also on Clinical Laboratory Testing, we are currently seeking a Director of Method and Test Development to bolster our team of accomplished laboratory professionals. This individual will join our team and be responsible for high-quality laboratory test and assay development as well as method validation under the supervision of the Chief Scientific Officer.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently research, design, support, and execute experiments to develop new methods and assays for sample preparation and biomarker detection using relevant analytical instrumentation.
- Independently design and execute verification and validation plans for new assays and methods for both sample preparation and analytical methods.
- Generate, compile, analyze, and interpret analytical and statistical data.
- Assist with generating technical documents required for method validation.
- Draft SOPs/SAPs for new assays and methods and communicate with the lab director for document review and approval.
- Communicate with the director to understand direction, seek guidance, overcome challenges, and provide resolutions.
- Work closely with the Director of Clinical Laboratory Operations to coordinate assay transfers and staff training to enable routine operational testing.
- Actively communicate quality issues or key findings to leaders or managers.
- Provide basic troubleshooting/maintenance of associated equipment and instrumentation.
- Stay current with related work in the field; share relevant information with your team.
- Maintain and follow all laboratory methods, protocols, and SOPs; follow company procedures, guidelines, and policies; assist in creating these documents as needed.
- Collaboratively perform other duties, as needed, to support company goals.

QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED SKILLS:
- Ph.D. in chemistry/biochemistry or life sciences
- Experience in a clinical or research laboratory environment (10+ years)
- Experience in Assay and Method Development is required (5+ years)
- Experience using clinical, analytical and laboratory instrumentation such as: Roche C501, Roche Cobas Pro, Luminex 200, Hamilton STARLet, VeritiPro Thermal Cycler, BSD (Blood Spot Puncher), etc.
- Experience handling routine and alternative specimen types (e.g. dried blood spots)
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities; strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent judgment, cognitive skills, innovative thinking, and problem-solving abilities; ability to react to situations with a sense of urgency and responsibility
- Strong interpersonal and listening skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels (verbally and in writing), both internally and externally
