SUMMARY:


The Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) provides funding, resources and connections that early-stage technology and life sciences companies in Maryland need in order to grow and thrive.  TEDCO is currently seeking a creative, dynamic Independent Contractor to provide data analysis, exceptional writing and program management in support of our programs.  We anticipate a contract of 50 hours a month, with a possibility of increasing hours over time.


POSITION OVERVIEW:


We are seeking an independent contractor who will be responsible for collecting and analyzing key data from TEDCO’s databases and CRM system to respond to compliance reporting requirements. Additionally, key responsibilities include uncovering of trends in technology and life sciences fields as well as developing enhanced data sets that will help the organization better understand the emerging trends and associated economic impacts. Using this data and information, it is necessary for this position to be able to author reflections that helps to tell the TEDCO story and create engaging content which provides insights and stories. This position works effectively across departments and enjoys collaborating with others and helps to ensure accuracy of data by working with the other departments who are reporting on their program’s outcomes.


Position expectations and responsibilities include, but not limited to: 


  • Compile relevant data and respond to quarterly and annual compliance reporting requirements
  • Help create and report descriptive statistics, metrics, and trend data on TEDCO programs, services, and priorities
  • Conduct literature searches to help support TEDCO’s mission and objectives
  • Conduct research and quantitative analysis for relevant audiences, including policy makers and ecosystem stakeholders
  • Write and edit engaging content for a wide variety of audience types to include project reports, memos, presentations, proposals, bids, white papers, and articles. This work is done in collaboration with the Marketing and Communication team.
  • Reviews, proofreads, and edits content from TEDCO including Government Relations, Marketing and Communications team, etc.
  • Creates and maintains a database of documents relevant to various programs that may be quickly and easily accessed.
  • Helps to design new ways of looking at the data that elicits new insights and helps to better tell the TEDCO story
  • Effectively maximize the current data as well as better understand what additional data needed to be collected from TEDCO’s CRM system or from other sources
  • Support the development and execution of TEDCO special projects including submittal of regulations, customized research and data reports supporting TEDCO policy work group and study efforts, etc.


Qualifications Required


    • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, public policy, technology, life sciences or relevant experience
    • Strong writing skills
    • Research experience and quantitative analytical skills with a forward-looking perspective
    • Database Management Skills 
    • Have extensive CRM system experience with an understanding of ways to extract key data
    • Proficient in MS Office Suite and web navigation
    • Possess exceptional organizational skills
    • Possess strong attention to detail
    • Strong relationship management skills
    • Works effectively across departments and enjoys collaborating with others
    • Helps to ensure accuracy of data by working with the other departments who are reporting on their program’s outcomes
    • Familiar with one or more of the following technical competencies: statistics programming, policy writing, research methods documentation, or project management
    • Able to demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving
    • Able to work in a team-oriented environment
    • Able to prioritize tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm for learning


Qualifications Desired


    • Demonstrates an interest in life sciences and technology.
    • Proficient with SalesForce CRM system
