Calibration Specialist
Job purpose
This position is responsible for the calibration of electro-mechanical devices. The incumbent will perform calibration at client site, in mechanical room and or lab environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Below are the primary job duties and responsibilities. This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities:
- Perform calibration, testing, troubleshooting and repairs, as necessary, data collection and report completion on a wide range of dimensional, electrical (electronic), electro-mechanical and mechanical measuring and test equipment (M&TE).
- Use established internal procedures as well as industry standards, manufacturer procedures, etc. for the proper calibration and troubleshooting of M&TE.
- Create, maintain, and execute calibration procedures for various instrumentation and equipment
- Maintain and follow VaLogic Bio company procedures, client specific procedures and other required documentation.
- Complete required documentation to certify the verification and calibration of M&TE.
- Use a variety of diagnostic tools and standard equipment to isolate malfunctions of M&TE.
- Provide recommendations for improving calibration processes.
- Self-manage time to obtain maximum efficiency.
- Possess excellent customer service skills in both written and oral forms.
- Be self-motivated.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Follow company policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Assist in evaluating calibration vendors based on quality and expertise and monitor performance
Qualifications and Skills
- Education and Experience
- BS degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Math, Science, or similar or;
- Formal training in Metrology, completion of Precision Measurement Equipment Course (PMEL) and/or;
- 5+ years of Metrology experience strongly preferred.
- Skills and Abilities
- Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word and database applications (data entry, not programming).
- Strong competency in record keeping / organization, database maintenance, spreadsheets
- Ability to maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
- Ongoing commitment to advance knowledge in the field of instrument calibration methods and providing excellent customer service
- Must demonstrate attention to detail and conscientiousness related to the quality of work
- Self directed and highly motivated
- Must work well in a team environment and must demonstrate excellent communication skills in the interaction with customer
Working conditions
Work conditions may include working GXP environment, office, calibration lab, and various client sites.
Physical requirements
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Participate in internal and external audits as a subject matter expert
- Work with management and establish goals to expand internal calibration capabilities
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be able to travel to and from client sites.

No direct reports; specialist may lead teams on projects
