BTS North America Electrical Engineer - Remote Opportunity

The Electrical Engineer will work closely with the Engineering & Construction team to design, specify, provide construction support and commission Bioenergy Devco's (BDC) projects.  Tasks will include design, analysis, and layout of switchgear, motor control centers and electrical plant rooms, low voltage (600V and below) power distribution systems, standby power systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, lightning protection, data communications, equipment relay logic, and plant instrumentation and controls. 

Responsibilities

    • Support projects in the planning, design and construction of BDC facilities.
    • Design and develop detailed drawings employing x-refs plans and showing wiring, conduit and equipment in physical format.
    • Perform calculations to size, select and specify electrical & control components facility design including distribution design and modifications.
    • Prepare design details to include utility contacts, power distribution, one line and elementary diagrams, power & control plan drawings    
    • Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, developing one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans and specifications.
    • Basic panel layouts of MCC elevations and basic control panels to establish physical size
    • Produce electrical and control technical specifications based upon Master Specifications and/or Spec Text in CSI formats
    • Electrical design and coordination of various projects with an emphasis on power distribution, lighting, communications, fire alarm systems, and control systems for new facilities.
    • Coordinate with Project Managers, Architects, Civil, Process-Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, I&C/SCADA, Structural engineers to plan and design electrical systems for new or modified facilities.
    • Design work will require a basic proficiency with CAD Programs (Autodesk Products, Bentley Products, etc.) specifically concerning as mentioned electrical systems for Engineering Design and Construction projects.
    • Performing engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings and responding to contractor RFI’s (request for information).
    • Performing system analysis using ETAP, SKM Power Tools or other power systems analysis software.
    • Acting as the liaison between utility company and project work for Electrical service needs for new facilities, and for those needing increased capacity.
    • Supporting large scale power needs with others to determine feasibility, costs, and timing.
    • Design of or the evaluation of the installation of electrical and controls for Hazardous Classification areas per NEC. Experience with NFPA Codes for Flammable gases and liquids in particular is a plus.
    • General power requirements for site fit-out and for providing backup power using generators and UPS units.
    • Design of Site Grounding, Cathodic Protection (passive and impressed), and Lightning Protection for electronics, and Site Lighting for most sites dealing with Class 1, Division 1 and 2 classifications involved.

Qualifications | Skills

    • Minimum of 7 years of experience of consulting experience in electrical engineering water/wastewater and industrial facility electrical design.
    • Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
    • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, a related discipline
    • Expertise in designing and specifying equipment for electrically classified areas.
    • Candidate must also have good communication skills, including interaction with clients and contractors.
    • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams effectively to complete projects on time and on budget.
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • A team player able to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment
    • Travel as required to support project needs

Physical Requirements

    • Regularly required to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time
    • Ability to reach and pull with hands and arms; in addition to, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
    • Will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
